Whitney Benzian grew up in Coronado. He has a passion for real estate  and civic affairs.  The San Diego News Network named him a “35 Under 35” local leader in 2010.  The Water Education Foundation selected him to their 2010 California Water Leaders Program.

Over the years, Benzian has been involved with a number of local community and business organizations.  In 2005, he re-established  the Coronado Active 20-30 Club, a civic service club for young adults. A few years ago he jumped off the board of the Coronado Historical Association where he served as President for 3 of his 4 years.  In that role, he also sat on the city committee that helped set up the Coronado Tourism Improvement District. He is now a Director of the Board for the Coronado Island Film Festival.

Over the bridge, Benzian is a Director of the Downtown San Diego Partnership where he serves on the Quality of Life Committee that focuses on homelessness issues.  He also serves on the Public Policy Committee of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Benzian is married to January Machold Benzian and has two little girls, Emma and Annie.  He loves to travel, play tennis, basketball, bike ride and surf when the water is warm.
